Course 3B: Monitoring and Implementation of Treaties to Defend People's Rights - May 2
This Course provides valuable information about how individuals and groups can access and use the UN Human Rights Council and its monitoring bodies to defend rights, expose violations and ensure remedies. This Course explores the role of UN agencies and treaty bodies in monitoring and implementing many of the Human Rights treaties, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR); the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR); the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD); the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CAT); and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). The faculty address how individuals and groups can make reports and complaints to the UN Human Rights Council and its monitoring bodies to and how to participate in the Universal Review process.
