Join the Monique and Roland Weyl People’s Academy of International Law for an informative, analytical and practice-oriented seminar and discussion on what meaningful utility remains for international law and legal institutions in a time of genocide and impunity. Seminar materials and education will be in English, French, Spanish and Arabic.

  • Review of Current Legal Actions: Examination of cases and decisions from international and domestic judicial bodies.
  • Summary of the ‘Anatomy of a Genocide’ Report: Overview of key findings of Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, presented to the UN Human Rights Council.
  • State Responsibility to Prevent Genocide: Discussion of state obligations under international law to prevent and punish genocide, attempts, conspiracies and incitements to commit genocide and complicity in genocide.
  • Critical Analyses of Legal Shortcomings: Exploration of gaps and challenges in enforcing genocide prevention laws.
  • The Right of Resistance and Self-Defense: Legal basis and limitations under international law.
  • Domestic Efforts to Restrict Genocide Funding: Review of domestic initiatives to curb financial support for genocide.
